McDonald's Rivervale Plaza

We had a fantastic birthday party for my child at McDonald's Rivervale Plaza last Thursday. The manager and staff were incredibly friendly and attentive, making sure every child had a memorable time. The food was delicious and served promptly even that was a public holiday and they were quite busy.

One of the dirtiest mac restaurant even seen. No one is cleaning up the tables and floor. All staff and manager on the ground cannot communicate at all. I hope it is because of their social programme (hiring staff with disabilities). If this is so, I will take out inability to communicate in this post. Drinks served are below standard. Ordered sprite. No sprite taste in it. Only water and soda. Manager did not even know sprite syrup is low or out. Bought 2 kids meal for my kids. They wanted to change the Pokémon cards into story books. Went to counter request for change. The counter staff immediately interrogated my wife why she have 2 set of Pokemon card? Now then they can finally talk. My wife went with 2 set of brand new toys requesting for change. Not as if it is an old toy asking for an exchange. Is is even wrong to come with 2 sets? They control the sales of kids meal? Mac restaurant service is going down the slope day by day. Nowadays mixed veg or zhi char stall service or waiting time is even better and shorter than them. U will not get hot food even if u wait long enough for the meal at mac. Drinks wil be diluted cos the ice melted while they prepare ur food. Food is cold and never at a time when I have my fish burger, the presentation will always be like my burger went for bungee jump and return to my table. The reason for writing review is because we hope sometime will be done for the food or brand we like and love. Hopefully they will not take for granted and lost their footing. Mac also has the timing system. The manager will clock the timing out. But the food was never served. Or maybe will be served 30mins later. KPI clocked. Mgt tot they did well. But in actual fact, it was never done.

On 3 Oct around 8+pm, my mum visited the McDonald’s Rivervale Mall branch and had one of the worst service experiences. She tried to order a Happy Meal (nuggets) and an apple pie at the kiosk but was told to pay at the cashier. A Malaysian Indian male manager attended to her, took her payment, and gave the receipt — but she didn’t notice the order was wrong on the slip. Since it was crowded, she went off briefly to get waffles with my son, then came back and waited a very long time without receiving her order. After asking a staff member, she was handed two ice cream cones — which was clearly not what she ordered. When she clarified, staff asked who served her and she mentioned the manager. They didn’t believe her and even went to check the CCTV before admitting the mistake. Only after that did the manager push his staff to prepare the correct order. But instead of taking responsibility, he started scolding and shouting at his staff loudly in front of customers. Extremely unprofessional. Mistakes happen, but the way this was handled — disbelief, unnecessary waiting, and public scolding of staff — left a really bad impression. McDonald’s should seriously review the management and training at this outlet.
