About OTC Cafe

3.8 (50)

OTC Cafe is located on the 3rd floor of the National Library with spacious, bright seating and decent fusion food at reasonable prices. However, the venue has significant service issues with staff being dismissive and rude, particularly regarding table occupancy policies, making it unsuitable for kids birthday parties despite having some space for children to move around.

My hubby and I went to OTC for our dinner today. This is our first visit to this cafe. Both of us ate the Grilled Salmon grain bowl and a bowl of wanton soup. The homemade wanton soup was superb. I personally do not like pork but this homemade wanton soup makes me want to go back for more. The salmon was well-cooked and tastes delicious with the sesame sauce. We also ordered the Passionfruit Fizzy drink recommended by the lady boss. So refreshing. We like the ambience and environment too. We will definitely visit this cafe again.

Had the sirloin steak burrito bowl and mango salmon on the last day before Phase 2 kicks back in, have to say that we definitely made the right choice! Great ambience, food was amazing and seriously affordable (at $28 nett for 2 pax), staff were also friendly and accommodating, not to mention that we were given complimentary desserts at the end of our meal by a cool guy (didn't catch his name unfortunately!) Awesome experience, we'll surely be back soon :)

A cafe that offers an array of fusion food, from healthy grain bowls, Japanese don to lasagna and light bites.I had their yakitori don and it was hearty. The spacious layout provided a comfortable and relaxing atmosphere. It was the perfect place to unwind, catch up with friends, or even get some work done. The chill vibe of the space, combined with the friendly staff, created a welcoming environment that made the dining experience even more enjoyable.

Disappointing and Inhospitable Experience at OTC Cafe. My recent visit to OTC Cafe was a stark and unpleasant contrast to my positive memories of the establishment from 2019. What was once an enjoyable place with a pleasant atmosphere has devolved into an establishment with questionable business practices and an inhospitable staff. My party of five visited the cafe during a low-traffic period on a weekday afternoon. The cafe was largely empty, with multiple tables available. I purchased a single, small cup of coffee, and as my friends were not interested in purchasing anything at that specific moment, we occupied a table. I was first met with an irritated and reluctant staff member at the counter who seemed bothered by my simple inquiry about which drink was mine. This initial interaction was followed by a more severe and perplexing one. Multiple staff members, including a woman who I assume to be the owner, approached our table to confront us. We were told in a very confrontational manner that we could not occupy a table for five people with only a single purchase. The owner proceeded to complain that this was "unfair" to her business and that she had to pay rent for the space. We were given an ultimatum: either we all make a purchase, or we would have to leave. This occurred despite the cafe being nearly empty and me not having finished my drink. The illogical and short-sighted nature of this demand is what is most troubling. A simple glance around the cafe would have shown that there were numerous unoccupied tables, and no other customers were waiting to be seated. This action was made even more hypocritical by the fact that another patron in business attire was occupying a table for four alone. It is baffling that the owner would rather force away paying customers and their potential future purchases than allow them to sit at an empty table during an off-peak hour. My friends may well have purchased drinks later had we been allowed to stay. Due to this shockingly poor service and unprofessional attitude, I cannot in good conscience recommend OTC Cafe to others. I will not be patronizing this establishment again and would advise others to do the same until there is a significant change in management and hospitality standards.

The ambience is spoilt by the cafe owner and their service standard. Very rude owner to chase away people even before they have bought anything. Based on the multiple similar negative reviews made here, it’s fair to say the owner has repeatedly been putting off customers and run a business that is inhospitable/ does not present a good image of the service expected at a cafe in a public library. NLB should review the use of the space and tenancy agreement with this cafe and owner.

regular here, often dropping by during my study sessions and buying at least two drinks almost every week. but today the lady that appears to run this cafe repeatedly pestered us to give up our seats because I had a drink with me, one that was a gift, completely unopened, and not even consumed on the premises. just because i am possibly the youngest customer here, does not mean i should be exempted from even the most basic of respect. the excuses she threw out were 'we pay rental here' and 'the other tables have two drinks'. legitimately insulting to loyal customers who have supported this place consistently, only to be nitpicked and hassled over something so trivial. if this is how they treat the people who keep coming back, then maybe they don’t deserve that loyalty and any patronage in fact, at all.
