Toybrary Austin is a highly-regarded toy library and play venue with extensive variety, educational toys, and special events that make it excellent for children's entertainment and development. The owner Liza receives consistent praise for her expertise in developmentally appropriate toys and warm demeanor toward families. However, a handful of reviews mention inconsistent owner behavior, cleanliness concerns during certain visits, and strict rule enforcement that felt unwelcoming to some guests.

My girls and I absolutely LOVED the Toybrary!! It's not just a great place to play and explore—it's a community treasure. The special events are always a blast, and the toy library concept is brilliant for keeping playtime fresh without overwhelming young kids. In our age of over-consumption, Toybrary offers a refreshing, sustainable alternative that every parent will appreciate. Liza's expertise in developmentally appropriate toys is invaluable. She has saved me countless times with her drop-off childcare options, providing much-needed relief and peace of mind for a few hours in a day. If you're tired of the toy clutter or endless wish lists, consider a Toybrary membership instead. It's a gift that keeps on giving, offering endless fun and learning opportunities for your little ones. We can't recommend it enough!

Toybrary is the happiest place and so wonderful for young children!! There are a multitude of options for the children to play with from dress up, to indoor playground and outdoor playground to trains and magnetic toys. Every child I’ve seen there is having a wonderful time and never wants to leave. Such an amazing deal to rent toys with a monthly membership!!! The birthday party’s here have the most incredible decorations and are always a hit with the kids!! Toybrary offers so many different creative classes from yoga to holiday crafts and even French story time and parents night out! Go check it out!!!!

Toybrary Austin is such a magical place 🏰🦄. I am a pediatric speech-language pathologist and I value their commitment to toys that promote lots of talking! They have a variety of services including their toy library, daycare, preschool classroom, birthday event room, and an office space to rent to get work done. Liza the owner knows everything about toys and creates such a kind and warm atmosphere for every child there. Highly recommend! 💕

I came here with my little one during COVID. It was a time when everyone was wearing a mask. The owner told me to take it off with a weird attitude and she was not very friendly. We went to the back yard to play and it was very run down - toys were not working and dirty. It was messy inside as well. Two children were eating their lunch on the same table my child was playing. Toys every where, some were really worn out and missing parts. Crowded space. We only stayed for a little bit, being not comfortable in the space. And my kid didn’t enjoy his time there either. It’s kinda unbelievable it can stay in business for so long.

I was very excited to visit this place and my little one had a blast but I had a similar experience as others where the owner was quite unpleasant. We were in one of the rooms and before we know it, she was cleaning up after us. It was visible we were still in that area so I’m not quite sure if we missed a rule? Or what the problem was? Just like she mentioned in her response comments, if we weren’t following her “rules”, a gentle reminder wouldn’t been much better than her passive aggressively throwing the toys in front of our face to clean up as we were clearly still playing. After that, I felt super uncomfortable and we ended up just leaving. Mind you, we were the only people even there at the time. Love that there is a wide variety of toys and so much to keep the little ones visit, it has potential to be amazing but the owner can work on growing from the feedback instead of replying so snarky (which speaks volumes about her character).

If you have high standards for cleanliness this place will not meet your expectations. It doesn’t seem very sanitary at all. I changed my kid’s diaper at the changing station which was gross and smelly. The sign that says you can drop your child off without shots is a huge red flag especially with the recent measles outbreak. I will not be doing that nor will I be coming back. I left after less than half an hour. Save yourself $12 and take your kid to the Thinkery for free during community hours instead!
