We had Newton Show for our child’s 7th birthday party and it was a blast! The kids were entertained for 90 minutes and the show really kept their attention. There were a variety of cool dry ice, liquid nitrogen, magic foam, flames, colors …

Thank you for the amazing birthday party at the bukit timah branch. The show's host Mr Krishna was highly adept in keeping his audience (kids and adults) hooked to the performance. The show included various experiments using liquid Nitrogen, polymers, crystals. All in all the kids (and parents too) had a fun filled time! Thank you Mr Krishna!

Newton Camp’s at Astor Superhero class was a total hit with my son! From the first day, he couldn’t stop talking about Professor Bear and Nova, his new favourite “super” teachers. They made learning fun, action-packed, and full of imagination. Every day he came home feeling like a real superhero, ready to save the world (or at least the living room 😄). Huge thanks to the team for creating such a magical experience. We’re already counting down to the next camp!

About 20 days ago, a ten-year-old Australian-Chinese girl from my daughter's primary school died in the Newtonshow/ Tomato Cooking School River Valley fire. Newtonshow camp's management has never contacted her family to at least offer condolences since the fire; instead, they continue to send promotional emails for their upcoming summer camps to this family who just lost their daughter… According to several news reports, Newtonshow did not have the necessary permit to use the 2nd and 3rd floors of that River Balley shophouse as an enrichment center, yet they did so anyway. The fire, which started on the 2nd floor during a cooking class, resulted in this girl's death and injured 21 others, including 16 children. I have been sending my kids there but will never do it again until a full investigation report comes out and somehow can prove that they are completely innocent (which I don’t believe would be the case). Children’s safety should be everyone’s absolute number 1 priority!

My daughter is a huge fan of Transformer specifically Bumblebee. When I came across newton show, I was excited to find that they organise Transformer theme science party. When I contacted newton show, the staff member Natalie assisted me with the booking. Natalie sent me a video of party/show they've done previously. It looked awesome with a total of 3 actors, 2 in jumpsuit and 1 with full suits looking like Bumblebee Robots! I was thrilled and signed up immediately thinking I could give my daughter and the kids in the party a big surprise. ONLY ONE actor in jumpsuit turned up at the party. It was an utter disappointment. I would not have paid for $649 for one hour session if I have known that the bumblebee robot is not part of the deal. Highly misinformed and misleading. Nothing wrong with the actor himself, he was quite patient with the kids and the activities were ok.

The show was entertaining for the kids, but I would not recommend Newton because they casually threatened to cancel my 6 year old’s birthday party 3 days prior for no reason (details below), are arrogant and have zero ability to take feedback. I booked a 1 hour birthday package which included a “Happy Birthday banner”. 3 days before the party, Newton told me that the banner would be brought with the entertainer and taken away when he leaves – this was never mentioned before, and I hadn’t catered for a similar banner on my end, since this was included. I told them this and also explained that its odd to put up and remove party decorations halfway through a party, to which they said they could leave the banner behind, if I return it to their River Valley office the next day, which was not feasible for me. I then told them to leave the banner out, but said I wanted to share my feedback that this condition was ridiculous i.e Happy Birthday banner occupies centre-stage at any party - why promise this only to give it and take it away halfway through (better not to include it at all?!), and if this is the case, why not inform in advance to people can plan accordingly? At this point, a simple “we understand, we’ll make this clearer in future” would have sufficed, but instead they responded by offering to cancel the party altogether, effectively issuing a casual threat 3 days prior to my child’s birthday. I was shocked as 1) it was 100% their fault for not communicating this clearly before, 2) and I even agreed to exclude the banner, but said that this point would form part of my overall feedback I reached out to the Manager hoping this threat was just down to a poor service representative. The Manager not only repeated the threat, but also told me “sorry, don’t need, why to give service to a client who will give bad review”. Reviews are meant to be honest, and they wanted to bully me into not writing my honest feedback about their banner policy, by threatening last minute cancellation of my child’s party. Had the Manager at least, shown some understanding and not threatened me a second time, I may have written a more positive review, albeit with a line at the end saying “banner provided is for 1 hour only, which is not practical, have shared feedback on this” But nope! Newton would rather threaten customers with cancellation of their kid’s parties, than allow legitimate, honest feedback. Worse, they try to disguise their lack of professionalism by making passive/aggressive statements like “We will cancel and refund because we cannot meet your expectations.” My expectations? For not getting what THEY advertised, for THEM informing me about this with 3 days to go, and when I ACCEPTED the situation despite the inconvenience but wanted to share feedback for future? When I pointed out that the banner conditions were never mentioned before, there was not a word of apology/acceptance/admission. I was very tempted to cancel, but chose not to opt out of the show, because on top of bullying me, I wasn’t about to let them get away with making me scramble for alternatives. Cancellation or not, I was going to write this review. Oh and btw, the reason their banner comes and goes with the entertainer, is because it’s a branded banner. How generous of them to “include” their own advertisement in the package and grace us with its presence for one whole hour!!! Nothing in the show or service before/after justifies this experience. I've organised and been to several parties and worked with several organisers, and nobody behaves likes this. There are plenty of options for science shows in Singapore - nobody deserves to go through this.
